How many times have you taken a group shot and later that evening you realized that in every single shot there was at least one person blinking?

This easter I went to my in-laws and it has become a habbit for me to go through their latest issues of Finnish science magazine, Tieteen Kuvalehti. In one of the issues, there was an article about a matematician who tried to solve how many pictures a photographer needs to take to get at least one picture of a group where not one person blinks.

The article didn't talk much about the research, but as a general rule it mentioned to devide the amount of people in the group shot by three in order to get the number of pictures needed to have the most favorable possibility to get at least one picture where no one blinks.

As a wedding photographer I find this tip truly handy.
